Measure Your Ring by Circumference

Using a tape measure, determine your ring size in millimetres by measuring the circumference of the third finger on your left hand, or an existing ring. Then, refer to our UK (or preferred region) ring size chart by Circumference above to find the corresponding letter size.

Measure Your Ring by Diameter

Alternatively, you can measure the internal diameter of a ring that already fits you well by placing it on a ruler and measuring straight across the centre from one inside edge to the other in millimetres. Then, refer to our UK (or preferred region) ring size chart by Diameter above to find the corresponding letter size.

(print out using a desktop computer for best results)

We've created a handy A4 printable ring sizer (actual size) to help you find the perfect fit - just follow these simple steps:

Use a ring that already fits well and place it over the circles on the guide. Match the circle to the very inside edge of the ring - not the outside.

This guide is designed to help you find the correct ring size by measuring a ring you or your partner already own.

Simply print this page on to A4 paper, making sure that NO scaling options such as fit to page or printable area are applied, so the measurements remain as
accurate as possible.

Please note: Measurements are approximate. This guide provides an estimate and may not take the style or shape of the ring into account.

Handy Tips for 'at-home' Sizing

  • Measure at room temperature - fingers can swell in heat and shrink in cold, so aim for a comfortable middle ground.
  • Take your measurement at least three times to make sure you get an accurate size.
  • Use a ring sizer if possible - printable guides are handy, but a proper ring sizer gives the most accurate result.
  • Wider band rings tend to feel snugger, so you may want to choose a slightly larger size.

Ring sizing FAQs

How to work out your ring size?

To measure your own ring size, pop into your local Warren James store where we'll be happy to measure your finger, a specific ring or use the handy guide above.

Are ring sizes different for men and women?

Ring sizes are the same for both men and women. While average ring sizes may differ between them, the sizing itself is identical. For example, a size P in a ladies ring is exactly the same as a size P in a men's ring.

What’s the average ring sizes for men and women?

For ring sizes in the UK, the average ring size for women is an O and the average ring size for men is a T. It's good to keep in mind that everyone's different and one size doesn't fit all, so make sure to use our handy chart or visit your nearest Warren James for an accurate size.

What if I buy the wrong ring size?

As long as the ring is unworn, we will exchange it for the right size if you return within 30 days of purchase. After 30 days of purchase, a charge will apply for resizing your ring. Please keep in mind there are certain types of rings that we are unable to re-size. Depending on the metal and style of the ring, for example whether it has a design or stones set around the band, it may be possible for us to adjust it. Pop into your nearest Warren James store or contact our services team for more advice on resizing.

Can you make a ring bigger?

Often - yes - but this depends on the style of the ring. The best thing to do is bring your new ring into your nearest Warren James store and one of our friendly staff members will give you the help and advice you need.

Is my ring is the right fit?

You want your ring to be comfortable and secure. It should slide comfortably onto your finger with a slight resistance as it goes over your knuckle. The perfect fit means your ring stays exactly where it should, without making a bid for freedom. Your ring should stay put throughout the day, yet slip off easily for swimming or baking - ideally without soap, stress, or negotiations!
