Mothering Sunday in the UK falls on the fourth Sunday of Lent and dates back to when Christians were encouraged to visit their “mother church”. However, in the last 100 years or so, we Brits adopted the American version of Mother’s Day which Anna Jarvis started in 1905 as a celebration of her own Mum. (The Yanks celebrate on the 2nd Sunday in May.) Interesting history aside, we love any opportunity to give our Mums, Grannnies, Nannas, Mums-to-be, or any lovely ladies in our lives a reminder of how special they are!
